THE 19TH KTA STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITION 2022

 

COMPETITION CONTENTS

The International Architectural Student Final Project Competition is an event carried out by the Department of Architecture, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), to provide insight for architectural students about design, especially in their Final Project. In addition, this activity is an opportunity for students to present their design works to the public and architectural connoisseurs. Held since 2004 (before was a national competition in Indonesia), it has been attended by many universities from all provinces in Indonesia. In 2022, the Department of Architecture, ITS is committed to continuing this consistency to contribute to architecture students’ learning process in the broader community in Asia and worldwide. 

ELIGIBILITY

The final graduation projects of undergraduate students from Architecture or related disciplines are accepted. Graduated (or expected to graduate) from university not more than one year until the submission deadline are still allowed to participate. 

TOPIC

The topic of the final project is the substance of comprehensive learning at the undergraduate level. However, each Final Project Topic focuses on one of the design knowledge. Therefore, in this TA International 2022, the Final Project categorization is based on the International Union of Architects (UIA Accord):

5. Cultural and Artistic Studies

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Work Delivery Mechanism

• Send your documents in softcopy files consisting of 3 (three) files then combined in *.zip format and upload using the link you will receive after the registration.
• Name your file in the format <KTA.zip registration number>.

For example, if a participant gets a registration number of 100, the file is named KTA2022-100.zip.

• The maximum size of a .zip file is 20 MB. 

Participants must upload the following materials:

1. One sheet of A1 layout (841 x 594 mm), vertical layout, in *.pdf format, written in Indonesian or English, 300 dpi. This layout must contain:

• Design concept / conceptual idea;
• The graphic framework that aims to provide an overview of the project such as floor plans, facades, cuts, perspective renderings;
• Participants are free to determine what should be displayed, and the scale chosen is relative.
• Enter the registration code in the Arial 11pt font format in the upper right corner.
• It is not allowed to include anything that refers to participants, such as name, university origin, etc.

Name the file with the format <A1_No. Registration>. For example, if a participant gets a registration number of 100, the file named as A1_KTA2021-100.pdf. 

2. A4 report, vertical layout. This format should provide the following information:

• Title
• Typology or building function
• Main room program
• Location
• Building area, land area & number of floors
• Background/Issues/theme/context
• Design concepts include form, space program; room; order; structure, and construction. 

Written in English in 300-500 words. It is not allowed to include images in it.

Name the file with the format <A4_No. Registration>. For example, if a participant gets a registration number of 100, the file is named A4_KTA2021-100.pdf. 

3. Document drawings. Under the condition:

Participants can submit pictures that represent ideas well, whether a perspective, view, cut, or diagram.

There is no limit on the number of images that can be uploaded.

Each sent file must be named with the format <G_No by image>.

Each image file must be in PNG or JPG format with a resolution of 300 dpi.

Image documents will be used in the publication of the KTA (separate from the judging).

QnA: 1 March – 4 September 2022

Submission deadline: 4 September 2022

Semi-final judging: 18 Sep 2022

Final judging: 1 October 2022

The jury team will consist of academics and professionals in architecture, affiliated from Indonesia, Japan, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, several other countries.
